How to make...
1. First thing we need to do is choose an image. I offer Celeb Cut Outs. I will be using one of my own for this tutorial, feel free to use it too.
2. Now we need to select the whole image. Selections >> Select All.
3. Press Delete on your keyboard. Now we need to de-select the image. Selections >> Select None.
4. Next we need to choose our Floodfill tool. It looks like this:
5. My our vector we will be using 4 colours. We need to fill the image with one of the colours we are going to use:
6. Next we need to select our Brush Tool and find the vector template brush. [You can use the one provided at the top of this tutorial]
7. I suggest you open up two of the colours you want to use, on your Flood Fill layers. I have selected Lilac and Green:
8. Open up a New Image [File >> New] and you want to set the size of it to 700 x 700. In this new image, we're going to stamp our vector template brush using one of the two colours we chose in step 7:
9. Go to Edit >> Copy. Now select our coloured box [Step Five] and go to Edit >> Paste as new layer. Your image should now look like this:
10. Now we need to do the same thing but with the Second of our colours.
11. Follow Step 8 for this part, and your Layers frame should now look like this:
12. Go to your Tool Bar and select the Freehand Selection tool, which looks like this:
13. Now you've selected the Freehand selection tool, you need to adjust the settings so they match below:
14. We need to select round every other green spike.
15. Once you've finished, it should look like this:
16. Press Delete on your keyboard. You should now have three of your colours:
17. Layers >> Merge >> Merge All (Flatten)
18. Now we need to select our Magic Wand tool. [This can be found below your Freehand Selection tool]:
19. Adjust the settings so they match those below:
20. Go back to your Colour Palette and select your fourth colour. You need to make sure it is selected in the bottom of the two boxes. [Mine is the blue one]:
21. Now, using your magic wand tool you need to select every other pink spike:
22. Press Ctrl + X on your keyboard. You should now see all four of your colours:
23. Go back Edit >> Copy
24. Press Ctrl + Z on your keyboard. This will undo the previous steps. You need to go as far as step 11, and make sure you have highlighted the background [Frame One]:
25. Now go to Edit >> Paste as new layer. You should now see all four of your colours.
26. Select any of your coloured vector templates. I will use purple:
27. Now go to Effects >> 3D Effects >> Drop Shadow:
28. Go to Layers >> Merge >> Merge All (flatten).
29. Now we're going to decorate the different layers. Using your Magic Wand tool [Step 18], select every other pink spike:
30. Go to Effects >> Artistic Effects >> Halftone, and adjust your settings so they match those below:
31. Select Ok, and press Ctrl + D to deselect any images. Now follow Step 30 again, but instead of choosing Round, we're going to choose Square. Select Ok, and press Ctrl + D to deselect any images. Mine now looks like this:
32. Follow the previous steps to decorate your vector. Use your Magic Wand tool to select spikes, and then use Brushes to decorate:
33. We need to go right back to Step 1 now and open your cutout. Decorate it how you wish. [i.e. rainbow clothes, scanlines, colours..]
34. Press Ctrl + C on your keyboard. Now open up your vector again, and press Ctrl + L on your keyboard. And you're done! Here is how mine turned out:
Please let me know if you need any further support. It's quite an intense tutorial, and took me about 4hours to learn! Hopefully you'll find mine easier than I found others.
